A little about Me

I've been asked what it is about Carol Burnett that makes me such a fan.  Besides the fact her comedy got me through a rough youth back in the 70's, I think it's because she lived up to herself.  When the tabloids lied, she fought them.  When she suspected her daughter was on drugs she took action.  Through it all she remained solid and kept her sense of humor.  That's why, after 35 years I am still a fan of Ms. Burnett. 

I had a chance to see her in person once, when she visited Arkansas to finish her daughter's project, but was not able to go because I had just had my cat spayed and needed to take care of her. But I did travel to California this year and with the help of friends found her star on the walk of fame (see above).  That's the closest I imagine I will ever come to being near my hero, but that's ok.  She's given me more than she will ever know.

I was asked once why I don't buy autographed pictures of Ms. Burnett off of eBay.  While I'm sure the majority of them are probably authentic, when I get Ms. Burnett's autograph it will be in person, by the legend herself.  And you can rest assured that I will never sell it because you can't put a price on something that's priceless.  When I was in high school and the show was still on, I wrote Ms. Burnett and told her I was going to be on her show one day.  She wrote back and told me to stay in school and then pursue my dreams.  Well, I stayed in school Ms. Burnett, thank you.  And I still have that letter, complete with the trademark lips and Ms. Burnett's signature.  Priceless!

Needless to say I didn't go into acting.  In fact by day I am a mild-mannered webmaster/designer for a health system here in Arkansas, but at night, I scourer the web looking for fresh news on Ms. Burnett.  I'm determined to give something back to my hero and this is all I have to offer.

And finally, for the most asked question; no, I have no connection with Ms. Burnett other than an appreciation for her work.  Other than the above mentioned letter I have never corresponded with her or met her.  I am not aware that she has ever visited this website either.
